Kady Berry is an Irish artist based in Cork. Her work explores connection - to self, to one another and to nature. Working with encaustic, a wax based medium, she builds each piece through a slow, layering process of wax and pigment. What evolves are richly textured paintings that draw the viewer in.

 

 

"As you get closer to the painting, the layers begin to reveal themselves. It invites a kind of quiet reflection, it slows you down. That’s where the connection happens. If you stay with it long enough, you begin to notice shifts in tone and texture. It emerges gradually, in the same way the paintings are made. It’s a slow process that forces me to stay connected and reminds me of the importance of this in all aspects of life."
